Cleaning Up After the Winter Ice Storm: Fallen Trees, Hauled Away

When an ice storm dropped trees across yards and driveways around Nashville, we hitched up the dump trailer and spent the week clearing fallen limbs and whole trunks for neighbors.

The ice storm that rolled through Middle Tennessee this winter didn't mess around. By the time the sun came up, half the neighborhoods we work in had limbs down, and more than a few had whole trees on the ground. Our phone started ringing before we'd even cleared the driveway.

This is exactly the kind of work the dump trailer was built for, and it's why we added tree removal to what we offer.

What we handle

We're not arborists, and we don't climb. What we do is haul. If a tree is already down — from a storm, from rot, from a lightning strike — we'll come out with chainsaws, cut it into manageable sections, load it into the dump trailer, and take it away. Same goes for big limbs that came down in the yard, branches piled along the curb, and the brush left over after a pro takes a tree down.

In some cases we'll also take down a small tree that's leaning or dead, but we evaluate those one by one. If there's any risk to a structure or a power line, we'll tell you straight up to call a certified arborist.

A week of storm cleanup

After this latest storm we ran the dump trailer hard for about six days straight:

  • 22 trailer loads of limbs, trunks, and brush hauled to the green waste site
  • 17 households cleared, from a single fallen limb to a 60-foot oak across a driveway
  • 3 emergency calls where a tree was blocking a driveway and the homeowner needed out for work

Most of the calls were the same story: folks who'd been quoted a two- or three-week wait by the bigger tree services and just needed the mess gone now so they could get back to normal.

What it costs

Pricing for fallen-tree cleanup depends on the size of the tree, where it landed, and how much cutting is involved. The fastest way to get a real number is to text us a couple of photos — wide shot plus a close-up of the trunk. We'll text back a quote within a few hours.

If a tree is on your house, your vehicle, or a power line, please call a professional emergency service and your insurance company first. We come in after the dangerous part is handled.

Why we said yes to this work

Watching neighbors stare at a tree on their fence with no idea who to call is the kind of thing that pushed us to add this service. A dump trailer, a chainsaw, and a willing crew can solve most fallen-tree situations in an afternoon. If you're sitting on storm damage from this winter and still haven't gotten it cleaned up — text us a photo. We'll get you on the schedule.

Whether it's a single-load haul or a full-day cleanup, we'd love to hear what you're working on.
